Spring driving requires attention to various details

Spring is a wonderful time to venture out around North Carolina. You need to make sure that you are ready for your trip so that you can make it home in one piece and enjoy more adventures.

Make sure that your vehicle is in road-ready condition. One of the most important things to check is the tread depth on the tires. Without proper tread, your tires can't displace water on the road that occurs with showers. You shouldn't drive through flooded streets, but rain on the roads can cause runoff that have leaked onto the roads. This is usually slick, but good tires might help you keep your vehicle on the road in these conditions.

As you are driving around town, make sure that you are aware of the driving surface. Potholes can be quite large at this time of year. You should try to avoid them if possible, but make sure that you aren't going to slam into someone if you do swerve around a pothole.

Another thing to watch for is the increase in pedestrians and bicyclists. Motorcyclists will also head out more in the nice weather. Be careful around these individuals because they can suffer grave injuries if they are struck by a vehicle.

You can drive as safe as humanly possible and still be involved in a crash. If another driver strikes you, get medical care if you need it. From there, you might decide to seek compensation for the financial, physical and emotional impacts of the crash. An attorney can provide more information on your legal options.
