Driver surrenders in North Carolina hit-and-run accident

Authorities reported that a 52-year-old motorcyclist was in critical condition after a Nov. 8 accident in Concord. According to police, a driver involved in the motorcycle accident surrendered to police more than a week later. He is facing charges of driving with a revoked license and felony hit-and-run.

The motorcyclist, a resident of Raleigh, was in critical condition after being helicoptered to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, according to police. Scant details regarding the 52-year-old motorcyclist’s condition were disclosed during the immediate aftermath of the accident.

Police said the accident happened at around 11:45 a.m., when a white car driven by a man, also 52, collided with a motorcycle at Weddington Road in the area of Rock Hill Church Road. Subsequent to the collision, the motorcycle reportedly left the roadway and crashed into a pole.

The 52-year-old driver of the white car purportedly left the scene. He was accompanied by legal counsel when he surrendered to Concord police on Nov. 17. He allegedly admitted his license to operate a motor vehicle was not active. Moreover, the man reportedly had a warrant out for his arrest stemming from a 2005 incident in in which he was charged with driving with a revoked license and speeding in another county.
