Aggressively Fighting for Injured Victims in North Carolina

2 North Carolina drivers killed in a car accident

| Aug 11, 2014 | Wrongful Death |

A man who was pulled over at a traffic stop allegedly fled from police officers. The action of the driver led to a tragedy on a North Carolina roadway. Two people were killed in a car accident following a head-on collision.

Initially, the police helped the Drug Enforcement Administration pull over a man on a recent evening. The driver pulled over at first, but then sped off. After fleeing from authorities, the man soon slammed into another vehicle head-on. When medics arrived at the scene, the man was already deceased. The woman in the other vehicle was transported to the hospital where she later died.

The accident is still being investigated by state authorities and by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Durham police. No other details regarding this case have been reported. As of this report, the names of the individuals who died have not been released.

When a loved one is killed in a car accident, it can be devastating to family members who are left behind. Unfortunately, this tragedy was caused by another individual who was allegedly fleeing from police officers. The family members of the deceased woman may have legal recourse to file a wrongful death claim against the estate of the deceased man to recover damages for their suffering. The civil court system in North Carolina typically adjudicates these types of cases based upon evidence that the other party operated in a negligent manner that resulted in death. If this case is successfully litigated, then the family members may be issued the financial relief that they need as they continue to mourn their loss.
