Fatal workplace injury result of collapsing crane

Utility workers in North Carolina or any other state may be aware of the likelihood of a workplace injury or death. With such heavy machinery and dangerous obstacles in the workplace, such an injury is likely to be very traumatic -- and can even result in death. When a loved one is severely injured or killed as the result of a workplace injury, they may benefit from knowing that they do have options such as seeking workers' compensation or survivor's benefits.

A tragic accident in another state has left two families mourning after two workers were killed as the result of a workplace injury. The two utility workers were more than 100 feet in the air at the time of the tragic accident. They were reportedly working on a crane when it collapsed beneath them.

Both of the workers were only 34 years old at the time of their deaths. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was said to have been on the scene of this fatal workplace injury. It was reported that the wind wasn't particularly fast that day, nor did the ground underneath the crane appear to be unstable. It is unknown just how or why the crane collapsed, although investigations are ongoing.

Many North Carolina families who face similar situations regarding a workplace injury may benefit in knowing that there are options for them. If a worker is killed on the job, they may be entitled to survivor's benefits through workers' compensation insurance maintained by an employer. Any workplace injury is devastating, but the burden of expenses after a working family member passes away could severely affect any family.
