North Carolina man killed in accident may prompt wrongful death

When roadways in North Carolina are wet, drivers are expected to be cautious at all times. Hydroplaning as the result of a speeding driver is fairly common on any wet roadway, which is why it is advised to pay particular attention to speed limits. No matter how good of a driver one claims to be, accidents can still happen. A North Carolina woman is expected to be facing serious criminal charges, and possibly a wrongful death case in the future, after she reportedly caused an accident that killed a young man.

The 25-year-old man was driving, accompanied by his wife at the time of the accident. Although reports are unclear, it appears a 52-year-old woman driving in the opposite direction crossed the center line for unknown reasons. A possible head-on collision was the result.

According to nearby witnesses, there is a sharp turn in the area the accident happened. The slightest distraction or acceleration in vehicle speed on wet roadways such as this can clearly cause fatal accidents. As the result of the head-on collision, the couple's car ended up hood-down in a ditch.

In this unfortunate car crash, the man passed away. Thankfully enough, his wife and the woman who reportedly hit their vehicle were able to be taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for their injuries. When an accident such as this happens, criminal charges can sometimes follow. For the woman driver, this appears to be the case as authorities state that she will be charged with a misdemeanor surrounding the death of the man.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the exact charge expected to be leveled against the woman is causing a death with a motor vehicle. Although the woman, if found guilty, will be held responsible for the actions that caused this car accident -- it may not be enough. A woman lost her husband in this tragedy, and in addition to unexpected expenses, is likely suffering a great deal. A wrongful death claim against the woman filed in a civil court may help the widow to feel as if justice really has been served after her husband was lost and help take care of any financial damages she has incurred as a result of the accident.
