7 suffer a workplace injury after explosion

No one in North Carolina goes to work and expects something to go wrong. Unfortunately, a workplace accident can occur at any time. Reportedly, seven workers have recently suffered a workplace injury after an explosion that may have been caused by machine failure.

When the explosion occurred, seven workers were knocked off the platform that they were working on. The workers had been pouring molten brass at the time. The molten brass was being heated to more than 2,000 degrees.

Two of the seven workers who were injured were transported to the burn center by helicopter for treatment. One of the remaining workers was transported to the burn center by ambulance. The last four workers were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. There was no information as to how severe the injuries or burns were.

State officials are currently investigating to determine the root cause of the explosion. It is believed that the burns the workers suffered were from the molten brass splattered in the blast. It was not indicated whether OSHA would be getting involved.

When North Carolina workers suffer a workplace injury, they may choose to file for workers' compensation benefits. These benefits can offer medical and financial assistance until one can get back to work. When it is clear, as in this case, that the injured parties were on-the-job at the time of the accident, compensation benefits typically apply. These important insurance proceeds are administered through the state of North Carolina. Many workers and their families are confused concerning the bureaucratic and legal aspects of filing a claim and seek help in doing so in order to ensure the timely receipt of all applicable insurance proceeds.
